You Are an Overcomer!

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

Have you ever been through a challenging situation or circumstances that left you feeling depleted, defeated, or even victimized? Most of us have but the good news is that you know on the inside that the event did not define you. That moment or circumstance was temporary. So you must shake off that feeling of defeat. You are not a victim, in fact the truth is you are an overcomer and I'm about to prove it to you.

First, let's define overcomer. An overcomer is a person who overcomes something : one who succeeds in dealing with or gaining control of some problem or difficulty. Simply stated to overcome is be victorious or to win.

The good news is God has given you the key to victory and the key to overcome and it's your FAITH IN Jesus Christ. Let's look at I john 5:4-5 which says, 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

So the first step to becoming an overcomer is to receive Jesus Christ and therefore to be born of God! You may be asking yourself, how do become born of God, thanks for asking, let's look at three scriptures that walk us through that process.

John 3:5 (KJV) which spells it out for us, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Next, see John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And third, Romans 10:9 (AMP) says, because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Once you have done that you are born again my friend- born of God and you now have the power and ability to overcome the world. You have the power and ability to overcome Satan and all his devices. Your Faith in Jesus Christ! The word of God that was made flesh. Causes you to be an overcomer. Yes your faith causes you to overcome any challenge, obstacle, sickness, disease, set back, betrayal, attack, injustice!

You wants some more good news, Jesus already overcame the world for us!

John 16:33 (AMP) says, I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]

It's because of our faith in Jesus Christ and what He has already done that we can overcome evil! Romans 12:21 (KJV) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Because of your faith in Jesus Christ you can overcome the wicked one!

1 John 2:13 (KJV) I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

Because of your faith and knowledge of the word of God you can overcome wicked one!

1 John 2:14 (KJV) says I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Stop right here and say this - The word of God abides in me and I overcome the wicked one!

You should also know that because of your faith in Jesus, God will always cause you to triumph!

2 Corinthians 2:14 (GW) says But I thank God, who always leads us in victory because of Christ. Wherever we go, God uses us to make clear what it means to know Christ. It’s like a fragrance that fills the air.

Well I believe I've made my point and that you get the point. You're not a victim. Say that aloud. You're not defeated or depleted, no, your faith in Jesus Christ has made you a victorious overcomer so go forward with confidence.

Let me conclude by reminding you of this promise. Everyone who overcomes or victorious in this life will receive a white robe and their name will not be blotted out of the book of life!

Revelation 3:5 King James Version (KJV)

5 He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Until next time, Blessing on you.
