For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:14 Amplified.
Do you consider yourself to be a child of God? Have you found yourself being led by your emotions, feelings, or other peoples opinions? We all have at times if we're honest; but there's a better way which is to allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit of God.
The first step to living a Spirit led life for the Christian is to understand that God has given the Holy Spirit to help you! John 14:16 (AMP) says And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—
Now that you understand the Holy Spirit is your Helper & Advocate, you have to set your mind on what the Holy Spirit desires for you in your daily everyday life.
Let's look at Romans 8:5-6, Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
To allow your mind to be governed by the Spirit begins with bringing your thoughts in line with the word of God, or as the scripture says "renewing your mind".
Romans 12:1-2 Amplified Bible (AMP) says,
12 [a]Therefore I urge you, [b]brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be [c]transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
The commitment to be led by the Spirit of God is to walk in the word of God & it should be said that it is a progressive process of transformation and change! This is the way you grow, mature and develop spiritually! The result of this will be the fruit of the Holy Spirit manifesting in your lives.
Galatians 5:22 Amplified Bible (AMP)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
So, as you walk in the word of God, you begin to deal with things with love, you will have joy and inner peace all are signs that you are indeed living the Spirit Led Life.
Another very important step to living the spirit led life is to spend time praying in the Spirit. Jude 20 (AMP) says, But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit,
Speaking from experience here, many times you will receive direction and encouragement after praying in the Holy Spirit. So be ready to write things downs.
