What is the mind?
The mind is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, language and memory. It is usually defined as the faculty of an entity's thoughts and consciousness.[3] It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and appreciation, and is responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in attitudes and actions. The Word of God tells us in - Philippians 2:5 King James Version (KJV)
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Christians and followers of Jesus our attitudes should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, we have to meditate the on the scriptures. We have to be guided by the spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].
Romans 12:2 English Standard Version (ESV)
2 Do not be conformed to this world,[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Why are we not to think like the world or to have a carnal mind set?

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
When we find ourselves thinking in the carnal mind, thinking negative thoughts, judgmental thoughts, lustful thoughts, vengeful thoughts ,etc we have to capture those thoughts. We have to stop them in their tracks.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
God has given us faith and power. It's up to us to guard our thoughts. It's up to us to watch what we are thinking. It's up to us to renew our minds! We can break old habits, we can break old cycles. Wow that's empowerment.
Ephesians 4:22-23 King James Version (KJV)
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
Another thing we can do is pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that we might not be aware of in our thought lives.

test me, and discover my thoughts.
24 Find out if there is any evil in me
and guide me in the everlasting way.[a]
As we develop the mind of Christ in our lives we will have a sound mind and sober judgment. We will make decisions that are wise.

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action,[a] and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
God is so good that He tells us what we should spend time thinking on and meditating about!

As we focus our minds and thoughts on the right things we will have peace!

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Declare this now:
I submit to the process of renewing my mind, and I expect divine progress. I refuse to accept past definitions and limitations of myself. I resist negative thinking, I resist a worldly carnal mindset. I embrace God's view through His word as I meditate on it day and night in the name of Jesus Christ!
