Faith is a key to walking in victory in your life. Faith is how we access the promises of God, it has been called the currency of the Kingdom. So, I just want encourage you to make sure you know these 5 things about faith!
First, FAITH IS TO BE YOUR LIFESTYLE. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (GNT) says
For our life is a matter of faith, not of sight and Hebrews 10:38 King (KJV) says; Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) says, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Did you get that? We are to live or actively practice faith in our everyday lives. Faith is not just to be something we use from time to time. We should always be believing God to manifest His word in some area of life on a regular basis. This is how we live the abundant life that Jesus Christ came to give us (John 10:10). For example, you may have a financial need in your life. So you would use your faith to ask God to provide according to His word in Philippians 4:19 (AMP) which says; And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Perhaps your are dealing with a health issue and have some sort of sickness or disease that has affected your body. You need to activate your faith to ask God to heal you according to Psalm 103:3 (CEV)3 The Lord forgives our sins,heals us when we are sick. You see, use your faith in your everyday life.
Next, once you understand that FAITH IS TO BE YOUR LIFESTYLE, you must have a clear understanding of WHAT FAITH IS! The Bible tells us what Faith is in Hebrews 11:1 (TLB) says, What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.
That same verse in the God's Word Translation says, To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.
Now that we know WHAT FAITH IS, we must know WHERE DOES FAITH COME FROM? This is the third thing you must know about faith! Let's look at Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith!
Romans 10:17 (KJV)So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
So, FAITH COMES FROM GOD! Faith comes from hearing the word of God. This is why it is so important to spend time every day in the scriptures. You build yourself up in faith. You increase your faith! You develop your faith! I know you're getting the picture.
Now that you understand where faith comes from and that you certainly have faith, the fourth thing you must understand is HOW FAITH WORKS!
Galatians 5:6 (ERV) says; When someone belongs to Christ Jesus, it is not important if they are circumcised or not. The important thing is faith—the kind of faith that works through love.
Did you get that? FAITH WORKS THROUGH LOVE. In order for your faith to work, you're going to have to operate in love. Walk in love towards other people. Yes indeed practice love. Love is action word. You don't love in theory. We have to be hearers and doers of the word of God.
I Corinthians 13 reveals what Bible love is!
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (ERV) says, Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. 5 Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. 6 Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth. 7 Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits. 8 Love will never end. But all those gifts will come to an end—even the gift of prophecy, the gift of speaking in different kinds of languages, and the gift of knowledge.
The bible also says, James 2:26 (KJV) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
So, just so that you clear, in order for your FAITH to work you have to walk in love.
Now that we understand how faith works, the fifth and final thing you must know is the reason God gave you Faith which is this, FAITH IS HOW WE OVERCOME THE WORLD as well as how we receive things from God!
1 John 5:4-5 Good News Translation (GNT) says because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith. 5 Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
So let's REVIEW the 5 things you must know about FAITH:
1) Faith is to be your lifestyle and without Faith you cannot please God!
2) Faith is the confident assurance that somethings going to happen!
3) Faith comes from hearing the word of God!
4) Faith works by love!
5) Faith is how you overcome the world!
Prayer Confession for Faith:
Jesus is the Author and Finisher of my faith, so I look to Him by believing and acting on His Word! I believe that my faith works because I walk in love, I believe God’s Word is true, it comes to pass, and He is the rewarder of those who seek Him. I not only hear the Word, but I act on it by faith. I do not doubt, but I believe in my heart that I have what I spoke by faith. In Jesus name.
